SOCSTC's Day Treatment Program is an intensive 5 day a week program for children ages 6 through 12. These are children with severe emotional and behaviorial problems who are unable to maintain in public school and have not made sufficent progress using outpatient therapy. The program is located in Ashland, Oregon and limits referrals to Jackson County.

Approach
The Day Treatment Program provides a community-based alternative to
residential treatment, combining intensive mental health treatment, special
education, and family therapy occurring without separation from the family.
Treatment planning is highly individualized, building on each child's and
family's strengths.
Services
Provided
The program integrates several treatment modalities to meet the individual
needs of each child and family. These include:

Individual Child Therapy. The child meets regularly with a Master's level therapist for psychotherapy—participating in various therapeutic techniques including play therapy, use of sand tray, and cognitive therapy.

Family Therapy. It is essential that families participate in the treatment process, therefore, Master's level therapists meet with the family on a regular basis with the goal of improving family interactions and functioning. Natural support systems within the family, the extended family, and in the family's network of supportive relationships are strengthened and included in the treatment process. In addition, the family therapist works toward integrating the child and family into their home community through such activities as home visitation, school consultation, and intra-agency coordination.

Special Education. Multi-grade special education is integrated within each child's individual treatment program. The focus is on building their basic academic skills while improving the social skills necessary for the child's return to a public school setting.
SOCSTC facilitates the child's/family's transition back to their home school and community by providing after-care services for up to three months after they complete the program.
