Mission
With the highest ethical and professional standards, Southern Oregon Child Study and Treatment Center provides a continuum of community based mental health services for children, youth and their families.
History
SOCSTC was one of six programs established in the early 1970's
as part of an effort to develop community-based alternatives to institutional
placement of children. This DARTS (Day & Residential Treatment Services)
program model has been replicated throughout Oregon and is an integral part
of the state's continuum of services for children. Over the past 35 years
SOCSTC has developed several new programs. These services maintain the original
focus of serving children in their home community, in the least restricted
setting, with a strong emphasis on family involvement throughout the treatment
process.
Treatment
Philosophy
Our treatment philosophy is based upon the value of preserving
family integrity by helping children and families build upon their strengths
and empowering them to identify and implement solutions to their problems.
Identification of resources within the individual child, family, and community,
as well as respect for the family's strengths and wisdom, are guiding principles
in our approach. In addition, all relevant community resources are drawn
upon to provide an integrated and supportive response.
Certifications
and Licensure
SOCSTC's programs are licensed by Oregon Department of Human Services and certified by Oregon Mental Health and Addiction Services. We are members of United Way of Jackson County, The Oregon Association of Treatment Centers and The Oregon Alliance of Children's Programs and the Foster Family Based Treatment Association.
